Looking over this briefly, it seems applicable to your topic: it examines how communication and critical thought shape children and society. However, it mostly focuses on very early childhood and the concept of repetition in teaching. OH WAIT.. just realized that this is already in one of the books. Oh well, here it is in electronic journal form! Hooray!

Searched Sociological Abstracts (CSA) for "Paolo Virno"--results: This query retrieved two pages of results, but few of them were available full-text and most do not appear to have any direct link to Paolo Virno. The titles and abstracts give me the impression that the articles are examining mostly Latin American, French, and Spanish politics. There are also other articles that reference Marx, Italian theorists, Postfordism, Michael Hardt, Negri, etc, but the abstracts are TOO abstract for me to be able to distinguish whether they would be of use to you. If you'd like to do a query for Paolo Virno and see if any of these are of particular interest of you, let me know, and I'll order them.

***At this point, I've pretty much exhausted the databases provided on the URI Libraries Reference Databases website. I can still search under E-journals and Internet Resources. Week 2 - Virno

Monday, May 21:

  • Searched HELIN for works by Virno--only found Radical Thought in Italy, already obtained.

  • Searched Literature Resource Center (Infotrac) for "Paolo Virno"--no results.

  • Searched The Philosopher's Index (CSA) for "Paolo Virno"--results: a few instances of A Grammar of the Multitude (already obtained), a couple of works in Italian, and an essay in English, "The Multitude and the Principle of Individuation." I filled out the form and requested this essay via Interlibrary loan. The description says it's only one page, but perhaps it just starts on that one page. We'll see. The information for this essay is as follows:

***After the first page of results, the relevance of the results to Virno dwindled. They all just contained a quote or a footnote referencing Virno's work, mostly Radical Thought in Italy. Also, please forgive the crazy bulleting! The HTML on here is slightly wacky, and bullets are the only mechanism I've discovered thusfar that allow me to indent properly. I tried to seperate the entries in addition to bulleting so the distinctions between them are clear.

    (Includes interviews, essays, Italian Bibliography--The only works on the bibliography that aren't in Italian, you've already obtained. An essay linked off of this page that seems particularly geared toward your topic is called "Labour and Language." It's short, but seems applicable. Unless I'm overlooking it, I don't think that this essay is printed in any of the books you've obtained thusfar--direct link: http://www.generation-online.org/t/labourlanguage.htm. I'm going to search other databases and see if I can find this essay on any of the more scholarly databases than Google.
